The Global Youth Science Journal (GYSJ) provides an open OAI-PMH 2.0 (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) endpoint for automated repository harvesting and academic indexing.
This standardized protocol allows university library discovery systems, research aggregators, bibliographic databases, and academic search engines to automatically harvest, index, and syndicate metadata of all peer-reviewed articles published by GYSJ.
OAI-PMH is a low-barrier mechanism for repository interoperability. Data providers are repositories that expose structured metadata, while service providers (harvesters) issue HTTP queries to extract that metadata.
Our endpoint complies with the official OAI-PMH Version 2.0 specification, returning well-formed UTF-8 encoded XML responses with comprehensive error handling and schema validation.
The GYSJ OAI-PMH gateway is accessible over HTTPS at the following base URL:
Base URL: https://globalyouthsciencejournal.app/oai
GYSJ supports multiple metadata prefixes to accommodate both general and advanced scholarly harvesters:
oai_dc (Dublin Core): The baseline standard schema mandated by the OAI-PMH specification (qualified Dublin Core elements: title, creator, subject, description, publisher, date, type, format, identifier, language, rights).
jats (Journal Article Tag Suite XML): Full scholarly XML format according to NISO JATS specifications, containing comprehensive article metadata, affiliations, author ORCID identifiers, publication dates, and abstracts.
The endpoint implements all six standard OAI-PMH request verbs:
Identify — Retrieves repository administrative details, email contact, granularity, and protocol compliance.ListMetadataFormats — Returns the available metadata schemas supported by the repository.ListSets — Returns the list of set structures used to organize published records.ListIdentifiers — Retrieves OAI identifier headers without full metadata records (optimized for incremental harvesting).ListRecords — Retrieves full metadata records matching specified date ranges or set filters.GetRecord — Retrieves a single metadata record matching a specific unique identifier.Harvesters may query the complete catalog or filter requests by specific sets:
set=articles — All peer-reviewed research papers and publications.from=YYYY-MM-DD — Restrict records modified or published after the specified date.until=YYYY-MM-DD — Restrict records modified or published before the specified date.Harvesters can test and query the live endpoints directly via HTTP GET:
We encourage academic libraries, indexing networks, and discovery engines to configure recurring harvesting jobs.
Please identify your harvester using a descriptive User-Agent header. For high-frequency crawling or special technical integration requirements, please contact our technical administration at [email protected].
