Guidelines on academic integrity, generative AI usage, and transparency.

Scientific Integrity First: GYSJ expects all student authors to maintain absolute academic honesty. While artificial intelligence tools can support scientific inquiry, human accountability remains paramount.

Generative AI Usage Guidelines

Generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or similar large language models) are increasingly used in academic settings. GYSJ defines clear boundaries for their application:

Permitted Uses of AI

Assisting with manuscript copyediting, grammar check, and language clarity.
Aiding literature comprehension or summarizing complex technical papers.
Assisting with programming code optimization for data analysis (e.g. R, Python, MATLAB).

Prohibited Uses of AI

Generating synthetic, fake, or manipulated experimental data or figures.
Creating fabricated citations, false references, or hallucinatory sources.
Generating the core original scientific analysis, hypotheses, or conclusions.
Listing an AI tool as an author or co-author on the manuscript.

Mandatory AI Disclosure Requirement

If any generative AI tools were used during research or manuscript preparation, authors MUST disclose this usage transparently in the Acknowledgments section of the manuscript:

"Disclosure of AI Assistance: The authors utilized [Name of AI Tool, e.g., ChatGPT-4o] for [specific purpose, e.g., refining manuscript grammar and syntax]. The authors evaluated and edited all output and take full scientific responsibility for the accuracy and originality of all presented work."

Full Human Authorship Accountability

Listed human authors are 100% accountable for all claims, references, data, and calculations presented in their published papers. Manuscripts containing undetected AI-generated scientific hallucinations or false citations will be returned or retracted.
