Zero Tolerance for Plagiarism: Presenting someone else's work, ideas, figures, or words as your own without explicit attribution is a severe violation of academic standards.

Originality Requirements

All manuscripts submitted to GYSJ must represent original research conducted by the listed authors that has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere.

Paraphrasing & Attribution Guidelines

Paraphrase in Your Own Voice: When citing background literature, synthesize the ideas into your own words. Simply changing a few words in a copied sentence is still considered paraphrasing plagiarism.
Restrict Direct Quotations: Scientific writing heavily favors original synthesis over direct quotes. Direct quotes should only be used when analyzing specific historical or textual excerpts, enclosed in quotation marks with explicit citations.
Self-Plagiarism & Duplicate Submission: Submitting work that you have already published in another journal, school magazine, or commercial outlet is not permitted. Presenting your own prior work requires proper citation. Posting to a preprint server (e.g., arXiv, bioRxiv, OSF Preprints) is not considered prior publication and is fully permitted at any time under our Archiving Policy.
Visual Data Attribution: Figures, diagrams, or tables taken from external sources must include formal copyright permission and explicit source citations.

Automated Plagiarism Screening

Every submission undergoes automated similarity index screening against global academic databases. Manuscripts displaying high uncited textual overlap will be returned or rejected prior to peer review.
